Ingredients
To prepare hydrated textured insect protein:
Dry textured insect protein
1 part
Water (85-95°C temperature)
2.2 parts
To prepare nachos topping:
Hydrated textured insect protein
40 %
Finely chopped canned tomatoes
53 %
Rapeseed oil
4.1 %
Mexican type spice mix
2.6 %
Salt
0.2 %
Black pepper
0.1 %
Preparation
- To hydrate the textured insect protein, pour 85-95°C water over the textured protein in a container in a ratio of 1:2.2 (100 g textured insect protein to 220 g water). Leave it to hydrate for 15 minutes, then mix thoroughly and leave it to hydrate again for another 15 minutes. Drain excess water through a strainer if necessary.
- Fry the hydrated textured protein with a little of oil in a pan for about 5 minutes.
- After 3 minutes, add the spice mix, salt, pepper, mix well and continue frying for 2 minutes.
- Then add chopped canned tomatoes to the pan and cook for another 5 minutes.
- Serve the prepared dish with nacho-type chips, garnish with lime juice.
